DOWNTON

| We started from the Moot CP, Downton..These are the ornate gates. | After following the river, we crossed a stile...... | |

| .....and a rough foot bridge... | ..to reach a concret farm track. | |

| We went on to pasture via a sucession of kissing gates... | .... | |

| ...to reach Charlton All Saints | We turned east to walk on pasture and via a number of bridges... | |

| ..a hazardous footpath... | ..to reach a weir. | |

| We reached the old mill. | Which is now a house. | |

| Shortly after the Mill, we turned off left through the woods. | When we reached patch of meadow land we paused for refreshments. | |

| Lookin up the meadow, we saw Trafalgar House (the Nelson connection) | We continued through woodland to reach a road near Standlynch farm. | |

| We walked up the road to a junction ... | where we turned left near the Lodge. | |

| Having crossed the bridge over the bed of the disused railway... | ...we then walked on a path south parallel to the track and at the road wnt under a bridge. | |

| We crossed a field where the line of the path was not evident. | to reach the track of the railway on the other side of the field. |

| Back in Downton, we admired the Millennium Beacon. |
