ACCESS CELEBRATION WALK

Jon Gambles led a walk on Tuesday 14th December 2004 from the Knapp Hill car park north of Alton Barnes. About 20 members attended plus media representatives. We walked south-east on a right-of-way to reach the newly designated access land on Walkers Hill. After reaching the summit, we continued by contouring round to the north to view the White Horse. On the way, Jon pointed out tessarets and turfed-over ant-hills as evidence that this was unimproved grassland. We ended the walk by walking a short distance on the Wansdyke and then descending back to the car park.
