The Ramblers' Association in Wiltshire & Swindon Area comprises five groups, centred on areas of population. These are: Chippenham (Chippenham group), Devizes (Mid-Wiltshire group), Swindon (North-east Wiltshire group), Salisbury (SouthWiltshire group) and Trowbridge (West-Wiltshire group). In addition, there is a group, known as Wiltshire Wanderers, which is specially aimed at younger people, in the age range 18 - 39. The Ramblers' Association will have provisionally allocated you to your nearest or most appropriate of these groups, unless you have requested otherwise, but you are free to choose to walk with any of these. All produce programmes of walks and all will welcome visitors and new members.

You can obtain the name and address of the secretary of the group nearest to you from the RA Handbook or by clicking here. Before you click though, understand that you can return here from that page by clicking on the back arrow on the top of your browser screen. If you are a new member (of the Association or to the Area) you will normally be contacted by the membership secretary of the appropriate group, who will send you a current programme of walks. However, if you have not yet received this, you can view the current programme by clicking on the appropriate button in the list below.

To go on a walk, just 'phone the leader and tell him or her that you are new and that you intend to come on the designated walk. Most groups have meeting points where they leave some cars and travel in the remainder to the start point from which the walk starts. Just turn up either at the meeting point or the start point and make yourself known to the leader.
