Wiltshire Council now have a "working" copy of the Definitive Map available on their Website.
You can enter a place name in the Search Box and then zoom into the area to see the details of the footpaths. You can check or uncheck the boxes to display or hide the Footpaths, Bridleways, Restricted byways or Byways. You can zoom in and out and drag the map to follow the route of the path.
This will let you check whether or not paths that you intend to walk along are still rights of way, or not, or have been diverted. This is particularly useful if you have old maps and wish to check the paths before venturing out on foot.
The map described above also identifies each path by it's name and number, which helps if you need to report a footpath problem using the "Report road, rights of way and car park problems" form that is also provided. In order to promote the use of this form we are replacing the Footpath Reporting Forms on this website with links to the Wiltshire Council one.
